surprise

it is almost my birthday and i am very excited. i always intensely enjoy looking forward to things and so this is fun. on sunday night jason even had a surprise birthday party for me! and i didn't ruin the surprise...which is a relief. i remember my seventeenth birthday - what a nightmare...

my sister had left that same day for india and other places far, far away - and she wasn't returning for six months or so. i was sad. and antisocial. not a good night for a party, but then i didn't know there was going to be a party...so i told my friend who was driving me home from the airport where we had said good-bye to andrea to just drop me off at home. we got in a fight because of course i wasn't supposed to be at home yet since the party-goers were just arriving, but to make a long story short i ended up getting my way (selfish girl!) and ruining the surprise. poor friends. they were shocked to see me welcome them to my own surprise party - 'you're not supposed to be here' and all that.

so after that bit of not so fond remembering, i will recall more pleasant times. one of my favorite parties was in grade two. i remember not being able to sleep for what felt like a long time every year on the night before my birthday. then the big day arrived, and i got to bring ten other little seven-year old girls home with me after school. we got to make balloon creatures (not by folding up balloons or whatever clowns do but by taking a regular balloon and sticking eyes and feet and stuff on it) and just generally have a giggling good time. even having my little brother hanging around couldn't ruin the fun-ness. and i got lots of cool presents that year. i kind of remember in a fuzzy way some kind of fairy doll thing that came with a big swan which was her faithful steed i guess. and of course my mom was wonderful. i don't remember which birthday it was but my favorite cake ever was this one she made with pineapple and cherries on top. very yummy.

so this year i was just lounging around in my oldest and comfiest sweatshirt (used to be neysa's before which it was bernard's i think) and eating ice cream when there was a quiet knock on the door. before i could get to it i heard people coming in - what's going on? i thought to myself. and in came jen and craig and rod and janelle and their baby kamryn, and a few minutes later nathan and brieanne, and it was such a perfect surprise! what a super husband i have :) but the best part is that even after the party i'm still looking forward to my birthday because i have the day off from work. how awesome.

Rock on Rina! (wow it works so well!) (I am being very Bilabial...except that it is not with b's, rather with R's and w's!...wow I bet i am confusing the heck out of people!) Back to the rocking on! Happy B-day Rina! Tell Jason he's a stud for the party! He is the ultimate husband! he could put that on his business card! I am going to take pointers from him for Leah's birthday! I am glad it was a good one Rina!

No Rina, I'd be pumped if your folks left messages on my blog thing!!!! Tell them they can say all sorts of stuff! I love getting messages! I got all sorts of gun ones too, close ups, from further back! Cool stuff! You and Jason should seriously think about coming out! It's a hoot out here!! (oh! and bilabial is just what you call using a lot of 'b's in your sentences! too many English lit classes for me!!) Hope your having a great day!!-john
