Saving Daylight

So, we live in a new province now and are experiencing daylight savings time for the first time in many years...the good thing about it is that kids don't have to walk to school in the dark.  The not so good thing is that we are waking up at 6 or earlier now... my favorite thing about that is lying in bed listening to the boys alternately whine/scream/talk with each other (they share a room) and then hearing Carter loudly say to Anderson in a very firm tone:  "Go back to sleep!!!"   If only he could take his own advice...sigh :)

But seriously, we are enjoying our new home, I think.  It is a bit early to tell yet but we are starting to feel more settled in.  People are always asking us that - "Are you getting settled in?"  I'm not sure what that means.  We don't have a lot of boxes left to unpack now besides some boxes of gardening stuff in the garage and some tools in the basement, if that's what it means.  But we also haven't gone so far as to hang all our pictures on the walls yet either.  So, it's a process.

Here is where we are now:

The boys are doing alright with the move.  Carter is really enjoying the hardwood floors to zoom his cars on, a fridge that he can open, the ice maker in the freezer door, the playhouse in the backyard, and going to children's church on Sunday mornings (which has amazed us, actually - he goes all by himself!).  Oh, and the snow, of course!  He said to me the other day when we were out in the snow for the first time this year:  "Mommy, I think I'm going to like the snow!"  He was very excited to throw snowballs at me and make snow angels and go for a ride around the yard in the sled today.

Anderson likes opening and closing doors, turning the bathtub taps on and off (yes, it is the jetted tub I mentioned once before), climbing up onto things (the couch, our bed, boxes, etc), and playing with random screwdrivers or other tools whenever he finds one.  The other day I found him standing on a box in the living room while moving the stud finder tool along the wall.  He has seen Jason and Carter do this (although according to Carter it's a "scud finder") and so he was quite pleased with himself to be able to do it too.  He is not sure about the snow and the colder weather, though.  He hates getting all bundled up before going outside, and mittens are some kind of torture.  But picking the face off the snowman is fun :)

You can tell, though, that they are still adjusting by their sleeping patterns...which were starting to even out until this silly daylight savings thing threw us for a loop :)  Anyway, we miss all you Dalmeny/Saskatoon folks...hope you're enjoying the snow as much as we are!
